What is the world but another word for us.

To be blind to borders, deaf to boasting,

When I fly my simple kite high in the sky,

I know it is lifted by the same swirling air

That lifted another simple kite

Flown by another adventurous child

On the other side of the world.

 

When rain drops dance on my tongue

During a summer rain shower,

I know I'm tasting the same fresh water

That quenched the thirst of another curious child

When my hands dive into the moist earth

And reveal writhing worms and speckled stones,
