When I fly my simple kite high in the sky,
I know it is lifted by the same swirling air
That lifted another simple kite
Flown by another adventurous child
On the other side of the world.
When rain drops dance on my tongue
During a summer rain shower,
I know I'm tasting the same fresh water
That quenched the thirst of another curious child
On the other side of the world.
When my hands dive into the moist earth
And reveal writhing worms and speckled stones,
I know I am touching the same rich dirt
That smudged the face of a playful child
I know I am touching the same rich dirt
That smudged the face of a playful child
On the other side of the world.
When I recycle what I no longer need,
I help keep your ground water clean,
Your rain forests vibrant,
And your air fresh.
What we do on our side of the world,
Affects all the world.
Because we are all connected.
